Cover Reveal: The Drowning of Arthur Braxton

by Caroline Smailes on January 30, 2013

With only TEN weeks until publication, I’m THRILLED to be able to reveal the cover for ‘The Drowning of Arthur Braxton’.

The plan is to have clear gloss dots all across the front, so you get the cover image but with shiny dots on the front (click on the images to make them larger). There are a few minor additions for the back cover, but I wanted to share this with you today. Let me know what you think.

Ooh, love it. Especially the dots – like a swimming pool x

Oooo, this is drop dead gorgeous. And from what I can tell from the blurb, really reflects the novel. Very very pretty and somewhat haunting.

Your covers are always innovative and individual, Caroline. And in a market where so many covers look the same, yours always look like the designer has actually read the book, or at least knows what it’s about.
This one is a real attention grabber and all the better for it.

Would pick it up and read back and most probably buy a copy, after 30 days. Am a capricon image has to stick. I think this one would.

Great title and an eye-catching cover. Glad I’m allowed to buy books again this year. On my pre-order list.

I’m glad you are too. Although I’m trying hard not to think too much about people reading it :)

It looks slightly eerie, maybe even a little bit scary. Really looking forward to reading it xx

Thanks Jeanie! I think the cover is going to divide people, but I’m hoping it won’t stop them from picking it up… x

I think the cover looks fab, if slightly scary, but mostly because it has your name on it and I can’t wait to read another novel of yours. I’ve pre-ordered. Hurry up, April!

Thanks Rebecca. I’ve been thinking about the cover a lot, actually for months now, and it is a true reflection of the sense of ‘missing’ that is a major theme in the novel. The aim is to move me into a new readership – my eldest child loves it, so perhaps other male readers will too. He’s hoping! And thanks so much for the pre-order x

Thanks Deej! And, yes, it has been a long time. It’ll be almost 3 years since I had a paper novel out! x

Can’t wait, another fabulous cover to covert. And another enigmatic title, so original and I’m sure the novel will be too.
