GobbleDEEbook

Ever wondered how many spots you can get on one bottom? Or how many people you can poison with your feet? Have you got what it takes to complete the X.M.A.S. Academy Bootcamp? Or would you like to know what a Time Lord expert has for his tea? Then come and join us at GobbleDEEbook this October half-term.

Travel in Time with Doctor Who! Hear authors telling you gruesome tales of ghosts and vampires that are guaranteed to make you sleep with the lights on. Join one of the most popular magicians in the country as he wows with magic. Find out how award-winning authors turn dreams and real life experiences into stories. Meet trolls, Dr Who baddies and hygienically-challenged characters. Put on your pointy hats and cloaks and learn about spooky spells and weird and wonderful magical creatures. Take part in a drawing workshop to create characters which will scare and horrify. Create your own teeny tiny books and explore techniques such as rubber stamping, stitch and collage. Try your hand at performance poetry. Take part in a traditional South African physical storytelling workshop. Design masks, cook up magic spells and SO MUCH more!

With quizzes, interactive storytelling, competitions, fabulous prizes and a chance to ask your favourite authors a million and fifty questions … St Mary’s Centre in Chester is where it’s all happening this October half-term and we can’t wait for you to come and join us!

I’m ridiculously proud to be one of the Artistic Directors of GobbleDEEbook, Chester’s brand new literature festival for children and teens. For the past few months I’ve been working so hard with Jessica Egan to devise a programme and I’m thrilled with the end result.

As well a week jam-packed with very fabulous events, there is the chance for young folk to enter some fabulous competitions: Catherine Forde books for the winner and their school, a selection of Little Tiger Press books for the winner of a colouring competition, signed books and the chance to star in Rook Hastings’ next adventure and the chance to design Harriet Goodwin’s next book cover! For all information check out our GobbleDEEbook competition page.

For this year only, all children’s tickets cost only £1 per event (and they can bring their grown-up for free). Tickets are selling FAST, so do check out the GobbleDEEbook website to book or telephone 08452417868.

I’ll be at the events all week, so if you’re about do come and say hello!
